A Life Worth Killing For? Well, that’s on hiatus for now. We were finally doing a film where we were going to have a budget, pay the actors and the stumbling block is locations to shoot. Seriously, wtf? Locations! Sigh.

ICFPE – or It Came From Planet Earth – Well the film has long been sitting there. We did a few tests and never progressed beyond that due to money/crew restrictions. We are going to try going for a grant for the film due in part to some of the success we have seen over the last few years with our shorts.

Moosejaw McKenzie – I hope when the snow comes we can get the few shots we need to move forward with this film over the next year. A pretty weird little movie parody script that’s been like the others, sitting waiting for us to get off our asses.

Zombie Surfing – Watched the rough assembly with a friend the other day and need to put some finishing touches on narration and then, ta-dah, a finished short…sort of. Shot 2009, finished 2011 for a silly 5 minute short seems…unnecessary.

and finally something for Project 10-x10 – A Toronto film club project where I will be directing one of the ten shorts expected to be compiled as a major piece. Knock on wood.

Busy week ahead of me but that is what vacations are for. Aren’t they?

Here’s the wishlist for this week:

1. Complete second draft of 2010 feature film project and send it out. – DONE

2. See District 9 – DONE

3. Hopefully see the finishing touches on the short film (I hate calling it this) Cock-Knockers From Space and get it uploaded by week’s end.

4. Re-draft the animatic of It Came From Planet Earth due to a computer crash (ahem, about 8 months ago).

5. Trip to the wonderful world of Hollywood make-up as 416film and Dfwago plot out a potentially awesome short full of mayhem that is slated for a September/October shoot – oh, and add in that we have to write the short but that should take like, what?…10 minutes?

6. Scene notes on Feature with breakdowns – Actually finished this today – DONE

7. A meeting over the feature film planned for 2010 – Eric is going over the second draft today so expect a new post with pictures of me crying tomorrow. (To be honest it isn’t a perfect script yet but I am really beginning to think it’s a solid one) – UPDATE: Now beginning version 3 and then we can start pre-production…for almost a year!

8. See Inglorious Basterds

9. Start pushing In Turnaround into a readable script…it’s supposed to be a bit of a puzzle but I have too many pieces lying around and that means I will lose a piece and won’t know it until we assemble it.

10. Updates to DVDwolf post – someday this will include the full site revamp I want

11. Complete other website projects for Eric and Pam.

And then a plethora of house chores: i.e. laundry, yardwork and all sorts of boring crap no one should have to do…

And that should wrap up August.

…tick…tick…tick.

At least seeing the movies should be easy enough.
